MAMEKAN DESSERT RECIPE!! JAPANESE JELLY & BEAN DESSERT!! (豆かん)

Hi Everyone. I hope you all enjoy this simple dessert. I used ingredients that we have over in the west, but usually, this dessert takes days to make and the beans are boiled over and over to get it super soft. Usually a Japanese black honey syrup is used to sweeten the beans, but in our case, brown sugar or a sweetener of your choice can be substituted.

Mamekan Recipe
(Serves 3-4)

2 cups water
2 teaspoons agar powder (https://amzn.to/2AtvA4z)
2 tablespoons demeurara sugar/brown sugar

1 (15 ounce) can black beans (black soy beans traditionally used)
2 cups water
1/2 cup demeurara or brown sugar or sweetener (more or less to taste) (https://amzn.to/2AppG4s – Japanese “black honey” syrup traditionally used)
dash salt (or soy sauce can be used)

Additional syrup may be added
